Coffee Memorial Blood Center’s Volunteer Services mission statement is to recruit, empower, and mobilize volunteers by building community understanding of our purpose and series to further the mission of being the donor-to-patient lifeline

Our three main objectives are to provide support services to staff and donors; to promote education of blood services; and to provide opportunities for training personal growth, advancement and community involvement

How do I become a volunteer?

Donor Reminder Calling Crew

Have a great smile that comes across on the phone? Share your talents by calling current donors to remind them of upcoming blood drives in their area.

Responsibilities:
1. Call our life-saving donors
2. Deliver messages such as date, location, time, reminder to bring photo ID and donor benefits
3. Documenting type of phone call based on caller response
4. Scheduling donor for appointment time and inputting donor on the drive schedule

Time Commitment:
1. Calls can be made on a weekly or monthly basis from your home or in the donor center/office

Qualifications:
1. Friendly and professional demeanor
2. Ability to multi-task
3. Helpful attitude and willingness to learn new tasks
4. Confident phone voice
5. Customer service skills
6. Persuasive personality

Receptionist

Receptionist
Yours will be the face of our important mission when you greet blood donors as a receptionist at our donor center.

Responsibilities:
1. Deliver our service promise to donors and guests
2. Give attention to detail while answering phones
3. Provide administrative support to CMBC staff members
4. Oversee the donor sign-in sheet and maintain the donor schedule

Time Commitment:
1. 4-8 hours per week

Qualifications:
1. Friendly and professional demeanor
2. Ability to multi-task
3. Helpful attitude and willingness to learn new tasks

Thank You Crew

Yours will be the face of our important mission. You are the first point-of-contact to our blood donors at mobile blood drives!  The Thank You Crew provides WOW customer service and consistently delivers our service promise while working with our donor collections staff at mobile drives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the donor sign-in sheet
  2. Maintain the donor schedule
  3. Answering basic questions about the donation process
  4. Passing out refreshments to donors
  5. Observing donors for post-donation reactions
  6. Distribute promotions including t-shirts, drawing etc.
  7. Provide donor education materials
  8. Thanking donors for their life-saving donations

Time Commitment:
1. Commit to one 4-6 hour shift every week or every other week and assist with special events as they arise
2. Based on drive locations and times

Qualifications:
1. Friendly and professional demeanor
2. Excellent communication skills
3. Ability to multi-task
4. Helpful attitude and willingness to learn new tasks
5. Dependability
6. Promptness
7. Able to sit, stand and move for long periods of time

Packing Crew

Do you prefer to work behind the scenes?  CMBC has a super way you can do so!

Responsibilities:
1. Unpack previous drives shirt and restock in the correct bin
2. Pull, pack and label T-shirts for upcoming drive
3. Roll and label boxed shirts in preparation for upcoming drives
4. Inventory t-shirts periodically per OBI/CMBC standards

Time Commitment: 
1. Weekly commitment of two hours.

Qualifications:
1. Ability to stand, lift and pull up to 30lbs
2. Ability to sit for 2 hours in a comfortable setting.
3. Professional appearance and demeanor.

Benefits:

Blood Bag Numbering Project

Do you prefer to work behind the scenes?  CMBC has a super way you can do so!

Responsibilities:
1. Label empty blood bags according to the Donor Services’ Stand Operating Procedure for use system wide.
2. Properly record and document DIN on blood bag numbering log.

Time Commitment: 
1. Weekly commitment of four hours.

Qualifications:
1. Ability to sit for 4 hours in a comfortable setting.
2. Good vision and finger dexterity.
3. Professional appearance and demeanor.

Benefits:
