 Christie

Christie – Assistant Director of Quality Assurance & Education

Christie began her career at the blood center over 15 years ago as a phlebotomist.  She grew in her leadership skills and assumed additional duties of team leader before transferring to the department of Quality Assurance and Education.  In her work, she has been responsible for calibration and maintenance of equipment, conducting audits, tracking trends and assisting the director of Quality Assurance.
Like many employees Christie became interested in working at the blood center after experiencing first hand the importance of blood donation.  "When a family member of mine was diagnosed with a blood disorder and was in constant need of blood, I decided that I wanted a job that was more meaningful - a job where I could make a difference. I found that here at CMBC. I believe that what I do is more than a job; it’s a way of helping our community.
“I feel good about working here, and there are more benefits here than any other job I’ve had before. No matter what department I’ve worked in, I’ve always had an opportunity to learn and grow. The employees work together to provide life-saving blood to the people of the high plains region. I’m very proud to be a member of the quality team at CMBC."
Christie was recognized as our 2001 Employee of the Year and continues to grow in her contributions to the blood center.

Todd

Todd – M.I.S. Operations Specialist

Todd began working at CMBC over 16 years ago as a Technician in the Product Laboratory.  Todd’s duties included blood component preparation (spinning the blood in a centrifuge to separate the red cells and plasma), filtering, labeling and hospital services.  Todd quickly became the evening supervisor as his knowledge and skills grew.
When computers became more and more a part of the Blood Center's everyday activities, Todd helped install the early network and servers. In 2001 Todd moved into the Management Information Systems (MIS) Department full time. His duties now include network administration, webmastering and pc and printer repairs, just to name a few. “Computers are a big part of every function at CMBC. There are very few projects today that don’t have some sort of MIS involvement. It’s a big challenge to keep the network running and users supplied with the tools they need to achieve our mission. If it plugs into the wall, it most likely involves MIS.”
Todd has been a blood donor since 1984 and continues to donate today. “I received a unit of blood after surgery in the 7th grade. As soon as I could, I started donating so that others would have blood available just as someone once did for me.
"CMBC is a great place to work. You can go home everyday knowing you have made a difference in someone’s life.”
Todd was recognized in 2003 as an Employee of the Year and is dedicated to the blood center’s mission.

Kaie
 Kaie – Human Resources Generalist

Kaie joined CMBC as a part-time human resources assistant in December, 2003.  As her duties expanded, her job became full-time and she was eventually promoted to the position of human resources generalist in 2008.
Kaie’s duties include administering the benefits and workers’ compensation programs, recruiting staff and assisting with employee relations events and business office tasks.  She oversees the CMBC Safety Committee and works closely with the executive staff in her role as the safety officer.  Kaie’s dedication to safety has ensured an excellent group effort from all levels of staff, and together they have secured an admirable safety record for CMBC.
Although not directly affiliated with the blood collection process, Kaie understands how her role ultimately impacts the patients we serve.  “The part of my job I most enjoy is the employee support I am able to give to our staff as they perform their all-important mission.  I am thankful to work for an organization that is so loved and well-respected in the community.”
Kaie was recognized in 2008 as our Employee of the Year, and she takes pride in her continued service to Coffee Memorial Blood Center.
