You will probably meet the medical requirements to donate blood if you are:

•  In good health
• At least 17 years old    *** 16 years old with Parental Consent ***
• Weigh at least 115 pounds 

Some reasons you may be deferred are:

• Anemia
• High blood pressure at time of donation
• Recent cold or flu
• Have risk factors for hepatitis or HIV/AIDS
• Recent infection
• Pregnancy
• Recent sexually transmitted disease
• Recent travel to a malarial disease area
  
• Melanoma, Leukemia or Lymphoma or recent diagnosis of cancer
• Untreated heart or lung disease
• Injection of drugs not prescribed by your doctor
