Coffee Memorial has received a few calls from people (donors and non-donors) reporting that they received a text message from Coffee Memorial. The text messages read similar to the following: “This is an automated message from Coffee Memorial Blood Center. Your blood test results are abnormal. Please call this number for an important message.” When you call the number, you receive a very inappropriate message.
Please be aware that test results are a very sensitive issue and we would never send such a text message. We currently do not have a text messaging program in place for communication with our donors at all. Because of the sensitive nature of our data, we have layers of security to prevent intrusion into our system. The numbers receiving these text messages were not numbers we have on record.
